Office Lamp Design
In order to further my knowledge and hone my rendering skills, I set out to create this project for myself. I was inspired by the intricate, well-crafted metal joints which I encountered while working on the project. I wanted to explore different lighting techniques and also incorporate elements that would reflect the manufacturing process of the product.
By experimenting with dramatic lighting and creating a clean composition, I was able to capture the beauty of the metal joints and pay homage to their craftsmanship. It was a great learning experience for me and I am proud of the end result.
An iterative process
Everything starts with a mood board for me. Here I collect visual cues that speak to me and that I'd like to include in my creations. It's about texture, light, color, composition and seeing what I can combine with other elements that feel like they could mix well. These inspirations guide me to create beautiful pieces that can evoke feelings and generate conversations. I also take into consideration the context in which the piece will be placed, so that the materials I choose and the colors I use are in harmony with the environment. My goal is to create a piece that has an emotional impact and one that will stand out.
Refining pays off
Throughout the project's development, I have experienced a few changes in direction, and at times, it felt as though I had lost my focus; however, I was able to reorient myself each time I continued to work on the project, giving me a clearer vision of my ultimate goal. With each iteration, I was able to refine my approach and get closer to the desired outcome.
Overall I am very pleased with the outcome of this project. Despite the fact that there is still room for improvement, the frames work excellently both on their own and as part of a larger series. That's what matters most to me at this stage. Therefore, I am looking forward to further exploring the possibilities of this project in the future.
